August 2003 - Both Penny and her friend were visitors from Scotland when we crossed paths. I politely requested that she model her tiny, pretty feet for our website. At first she was reluctant and contemplated the offer for a few seconds. I then asked her what she did for a living and her reply was, "a medical student." “I too am a scientist, a Ph.D.," I responded, and proceeded to recount all the steps in Glycolysis and Kreb’s cycle from memory--basic biochemistry, which I knew she had taken as a pre-med student--in order to gain her trust and entice her to model. It actually worked! Penny was certainly impressed and uttered, with a smile, “Now you’re showing off!” She then gave me the professional courtesy and briefly modeled those size 4.5 feet for our camera. If you live in Scotland and happen to go to this doctor, you can ask her about our brief encounter in California and tell her that you admire her cute, tiny feet.
