June 2010 – Myra and a number of young ladies were part of a large group I bumped into on the boardwalk. I first noticed Myra’s unique toes and my curiosity got the best of me, so I inquired about them. She graciously explained that the doctors had to remove some of her toe bones (intermediate and distal phalanges, I assume) in order to transplant them into her hand. Myra was open about her condition and modeling her unique feet for our project as she kindly let me snap the following shots of her ‘special’ size 6’s. I was so touched by Myra’s wonderful outlook on life in general. I could sense a great deal of maturity, self-confidence, and resilience in this young lady, although my heart still aches at what this poor angel has been through all her life. Bless her precious heart.
